I am probably going to go out again in a few hours with the hope that less people will be out and about. I don’t know if it really matters. It seems like no cares what one does on the street.
Early today, while walking back from New York Central Art Supply, I saw an empty bus shelter on 6th Ave. I guess as long as it is illuminated and no one is standing underneath it it doesn’t matter if people are about.

I am in New York for a few weeks.

Today, I went to see the new Broad Galleries at LACMA. I think it is better than most have described as a place to display work. For myself, there wasn’t a lot of artwork that I really liked or stood out as particularly strong works by the artists represented in the collection. Among the strong work, there was a superb Cy Twombly (Untitled, from 1955), Blue Electric Chair by Andy Warhol (1962?) as well as a quality group of Baldessaris. I was a bit disappointed that the Cindy Sherman selection of films still photographs was displayed in table top vitrines instead of framed on the wall.
Oh yeah, Norms, La Cienega, on Fire (1964) by Ed Ruscha is up there too!
I also liked the reinstallation of the rest of the museum. There was a good selection of John McLaughlin paintings in the Ahmanson Building, and a really really nice one on the second floor of the Art of Americas Building. As always, the museum has “pay what you like” after 5PM everyday they are open.

A quick shot. aperture f/4.8, shutter speed 1/30, ISO 1100
Here is the unboxing I promised.

Some samples later. The images I’ve taken so far with the camera are really good; fast shutter speeds, really good detail, no grain. I have been shooting in the continuous high speed shooting mode which is about 6 frames per second. The potential of this camera seems very high.
This is not the item I hinted at in my previous entry, but it is going to be used by the item in question—this might be the least anticipated unboxing ever posted.

Ta-da!!!
I was recently told—about 20 minutes before this post—that one does not have to have anything to say to blog.

as seen flying above Jim Welling’s opening at Regen Projects the other day.
According to a LA Times breaking news email, there was a tornado alert in Malibu tonight. I was watching a documentary, Everything Is Cool, on global warming which talked about the film The Day After Tomorrow (2004) when I got it. I was planning to buy a raincoat; perhaps I should buy a winter coat.

at Sunset Blvd and Sanborn Ave around 6pm on Thursday
As I posted before, I went to San Francisco on the 31st. It was the least amount of traffic I have ever experienced in the city.

I meant to post this sooner.
