my attempt at being cryptic.

Eartha Kitt sang, danced and acted; she was a sex kitten (self proclaimed) before she was Cat Woman. The LA Times has a short obit and some links to two videos, including the one I linked to below, and photos. hopefully they will increase their coverage—it is still a breaking story at the time I wrote this. The BBC’s is equally short but much more interesting obituary. In the time that I wrote this and double checking my links, the BBC has added to their story.
Here is a link to the youtube video of her performing Santa Baby.

In this Sunday’s LA Times, there is more talk about the potential future of MOCA. I didn’t think there was much that is new in it, but it does give a picture of the situation up till now. It mostly tries to explain how it came about and the environment in which it took place—the small pool of funders and LACMA’s push into the contemporary arena—as well as more former board members opinions and what should happen to the director, Jeremy Strick.
4 o’clock program with Jon Wiener talks with Christopher Knight about MOCA. It is at the top of the program, so one doesn’t need to search to find the conversation.
The Event is this Saturday, Dec. 13th from 3 – 8pm, with cocktails from 6 – 7:30pm, admission is $10, and the drawings are priced at either $50 or $100 based on the size of the work.
