Albert York, dies at 80

Albert York made some really good paintings. I liked how simple and straightforward his paintings are.

I took my first paintings in a paper grocery bag to Susanne Vielmetter out of convenience and based on a story about Mr. York doing something similar. The story I heard was he would show up with a bag of paintings and collect the payments from the previous drop off. In the New York Times obituary the story is different, but conveys the same reclusive nature that he translated into his paintings.
